Graduate Program - Publicly Engaged Graduate Education

The M.A. in American Studies embraces what Imagining America—a national consortium of colleges and universities committed to public scholarship in the arts, humanities, and design—describes as “publicly engaged graduate education.” That is, we are committed to graduate training that embraces public practice and considers public consequence.  We foster collaborative work with partners on and off campus, and encourage intellectual work that produces a public good and fosters constructive public debate.  Besides offering public scholarship opportunities through the program’s capstone experience, our students may choose to complete an applied research project as part of their experiential learning requirement.

We encourage our graduate students to become actively involved in Imagining America’s PAGE program.  More information on PAGE – and the PAGE Fellows program – can be found at http://pageia.com/ .
